Native Plant Gardening

Update on my pit full of invasives

Last summer I asked for advice on managing a huge pit full of invasive honeysuckle, privet, and wine berry. I got a lot of good advice! And I mostly didn't follow any of it because I am lazy and have too much too manage. So mostly I have just been chopping down stuff as it comes and painting the stumps. I did this maybe 3 times. I have been just letting it do it's thing and see if any local natives start to take over. It looks better I guess. It's mostly pokeberry and white snakesroot right now. I have seen a few small spicebushes too! I am currently cleaning up my perennial beds. Normally I would just leave it there for winter but I decided to just chop all my dormant perennials down and throw them into the pit. Maybe something will sprout from all those seeds. We shall see in spring! This last photo is the before.
