Flower beds in shaded and full sun areas for bees and butterflies

Hi all,

Very new to gardening here. I'm trying to attract bees and butterflies to my garden. So far I've planted a wildflower bed in the south east corner of the garden, lavender in the south facing part, a buddleja bush in the north west corner, and fusia, and ice plant in the west post of the garden.

As you can see it's not a massive space to work with, but ideally I'd like to add some shrubs in the shaded area to, preferably something that is evergreen and can act as a barrier with our neighbours garden too as the current one on their side is deciduous and goes very bare in the winter/spring months. And if I can find shrubs that are good for pollinators too, that would be a big win.

In the shaded area, I was planning on putting in a level, slightly raised with some compost, plastic sheet to prevent weeds getting though and mulch/wood chippings on top. Ideally, I can then wrap this around to meet up with the wildflower bed on the other side of the garden. When putting in such a bed, is it recommended to have it all in a straight line, or to add some curves into it. Just that I'm struggling to visualise how it would look with a "wavy" flower bed that wraps around the garden.

Would be very grateful to hear your thoughts on what shrubs would work in a garden like this, with both shaded and sunny areas, and any tips on what kind of flower beds work look nice (raised, level, rock, etc.) here too would be great.

Thank you!
