This is a Southern Live Oak and it is absolutely a mortal wound. That being said, I’m not arborist so I cannot definitively say the whole thing needs to come down and how long it may be able to survive but a good portion, if not the whole thing, needs to go. I would contact an actual arborist because these are beautiful trees. If a certified arborist tells you it’s gotta go, it’s gotta go
