Infamous Natural Rooting Hormone or Bacteria?

Hi All!

Propagating a monstera cutting. Is this that infamous root hormone collecting around the new nodes? I've heard people talk about it, but never experienced it myself.

Or

Is this bacteria that I should be rinsing off?

Context:

1. Cutting is 2 weeks in water with rooting hormone dissolved in water. (That's the murkiness you see)

2. Two stems in the same water vase.

3. Yes, I change my (Tap) water out every so often.

4. I have a 3rd cutting from the same mama plant that had aerial roots & is flourishing separately and did not have this bacteria build up.
