Plant Propagation

Do I need to cut off the dry parts of this pineapple I’m trying to propagate?

I’ve been trying to propagate 2 Maui pineapples I brought back from Hawaii and I have a couple questions. This is my first time ever trying to propagate and grow anything. I put them in water on September 16 and I believe the left one is ready to be planted. The leaves weren’t this yellow and dry when I first placed them in water.

Do I need to cut off the dry section of the leaves? Should I wait some more before planting them? Do you have any tips on growing pineapple?

Thank you in advance!!

Depending on what quality water you’re using to propagate the pineapples with , it could be that the tips are crispy due to the presence of impurities/heavy metals in the water (like chlorine/chloramine)

Hi! I have propagated pineapples this way before. I think the one on the right has good roots to plant now and water. Wait a few more weeks on the other for more roots. After planting I had cut the brown tips off and it made the plant look horrible. I had just as many brown tips as you and it literally looked like I ran it over with a lawn mower. It was not cute lol. I don’t think it affects the plant much to leave the tips. As long as you’re getting new leaves from the center of the crown, you’re good.
