What am I supposed to doing?

This was all just one big pile of 10+ years of lawn clipping and just whatever I would throw on.

I've divided it into 3 sections, left is fresh, middle was mostly dirt, right it dirt at this point.

What should I actually be doing?

I get tonnes of leaves every autumn, mow the lawns plenty throughout the year and just a few food scraps.

Do I build and use a sift for transferring to the middle section so I actually get some material out?

Total newbie here so thank you for the help in advance.

What’s your aim? If you’re just looking for a way to use those yard scraps, you could just mulch your lawn trimmings when you mow instead of bagging. That’s easier and good for the grass. You could leave some leaves over perennial plants and mulch the others into the lawn which is good for your native bees and good insects.

You could then work these piles into garden beds, or use them as mulch on trees or shrubs.
