what is this green thing? beginner here!

hi everyone! i bought this terrarium in a convention for artists around september 26/27. i thought it would be cute for my office desk. the seller didn't tell me much, but she did mention not to give it direct sunlight and to water ONLY when the soil is dry. i haven't watered it since then bc i noticed that it's still moist inside from condensation.

i would really like to know if i'm doing this really wrong? picture 1-4: i don't know what this moss-like thing is, and i think it's growing mold too 🙁 picture 5 is when i first got it.

i also noticed a silver/grey-ish bug inside, it's smaller than a lady bug and looked quite similar to a springtail… i'm just not sure because i wasn't able to take a picture of it.

thank you for your help!

Need help identifying a mold or fungus? That can only be achieved using professional sampling methods and laboratory analysis. Your environment is too wet. if it’s a wet environment purposely it needs ventilation.

  2. Fungus among us. It’s mold. Moist wood inside an enclosure will get mold. Best way to combat this is to add a culture of springtails that will feed on the mold and keep the terrarium clean
