I planted these Dawn redwood less than 2 weeks ago, thinking they would stratify over the winter and sprout in the spring, but they have already sprouted. Will they survive the winter? Portland, OR 8b
Probably not. I would bring them in and let them ride out the winter indoors. Seedlings can’t take the cold.

According to Sheffields they only need 2 weeks cold stratification if you’re gonna stratify at all, so ideally you would have waited until 2 weeks before your last frost date in 2025 or up to your last frost date before trying to germinate these. I’d just start over because these aren’t going to survive winter and they aren’t going to be healthy and viable seedlings indoors.
