What to plant in front of hot window?

The lawn under my front (north facing) windows has died, I believe due to the sun reflecting off the tinted windows. Nothing has been successful in bringing it back to life. Would a small garden bed be more suitable in this space? If so, what sorts of low maintenance plants would survive?

A small garden bed, yes. You could try some hardy natives to your area or a succulent bed, but i’d probably be quick to get them in or wait until after summertime, given how hot that area gets.

I have liriope Evergreen Giant at the front of my house, where they get afternoon sun in summer and not much sun in winter – they’ve been pretty good.

You want a big garden bed with a small tree a few meters from the house that will shade the window so you don’t get reflection from the sun. You need canopy cover up to the window. Your new garden with tree will cool that side of the house, making tinting unnecessarily. It will reduce your electricity bills and give you beautiful views out of the window.

Looks more like animal pre than heat. Shape doesn’t match up
