Cause for concern? Big limb snapped off last night.

A big limb of our oak fell last night onto some power lines. The black stuff was solid when I tried to see if it was rot or something. Not sure what this is. Does the whole tree need to come down?

Poorly-attached limb failed. That wound will never close over and the tree’s life is shortened. Will it die tomorrow? no. 20 years? Likely.

Bark inclusion creates Rot. Rot pulls down co dominants.
