My balcony railing gets more sun than anywhere else, would drilling holes in a planter like this work for a bog garden?

I'm looking to grow a couple north american native sarracenia and moss for now, maybe will add some sundew or other things down the line. I have very limited experience though, so I'm wondering if anyone else sees any issues with this idea or has recommendations? Thanks in advance!
