Alocasia

so i got the mosaic huh😔

this is the large alocasia regal shields posted multiple times on my feed. i cut it back all the way about a year ago(?), and i remember at the time there was a much smaller leaf with this pattern on it, except it was more white than yellow. the plant had completely grown back with no patterned leaves, bushier than ever (although it has now been overtaken by caterpillars or something of the like), all for this to appear now 🥲

what does this mean for my plant? are the corms also infected?

I believe mosaic viruses can’t be cured and are extremely contagious

I’m really not one to discard plants easily [hello my numerous plant phoenix, raising back from the dead after (several) pest waves] but I think there’s nothing doable to save a mosaic virus infected plant 😔🌱💔
