Thank you Gary
Sweet! Lookiing forward to additional re-design videos. I need the inspiration. Thanks Gary!
Looks amazing.
Hi Gary. I absolutely love my eight foot long cattle panel tunnel. Harvesting from inside it is so much easier, and it is a shady spot in the garden. Next spring, I will be growing my cantaloup and Sugar Baby Watermelon on it, and moving my cucumbers to the back of the garden where they will be shaded by a maple tree in the hottest part of the afternoon. I've added PEX tubing hoops to a lot of my raised beds. Now I can cover every raised bed with cat/deer netting (It works for bugs too.) over all of my raised beds, giving more options for growing. Yeah, as if I don't already grow enough food. Now I have twice the space. But at least it will keep me busy.
My pepper plants survived two nights of frost, and have two more cold nights in the forecast. That gives me one more good harvest and a clean up harvest before they are done for the season. I didn't realize it until I started digging tomatoes out of my freezer, but I had a bumper crop of peppers this year. I have thirty-six quarts of diced peppers in my freezer on top of diced peppers from last year. It is a good thing that I use a lot of peppers. Soon, I'll have to make more room for my fall harvests.
I needed to warm up the house yesterday morning, so I made a batch of eight pints of salsa. I have enough tomatoes to make eight more pints, and between sixteen and twenty-four pints of tomato sauce. I'll probably still have enough tomatoes left over to make tomato soup. No problem with having enough garlic, onions, peppers, and seasonings. I used a Mennonite recipe that came out perfect. The Amish and Mennonites know how to make tasty vittles.
I had my cattle panel trellis in the bed’s like you and secured them to the wood with metal straps that screwed into the wood, and it was full of cherry tomatoes and a maypop vine. I had been watering everything well, and when we had a storm with 60-70 mph winds it fell over and was too heavy to lift back into shape. I’m waiting for winter to rebuild it but with no support it ripped the beds wood out of place and fell right over. Next year I’m thinking t posts support or something at least 3-4 feet tall.
Thank you so much for that idea. Will be using it this upcoming spring season
Thanks for this video. What is the total length of the cattle panel?
