Edible Gardening

Cilantro, Thyme and Knotting Onion – Three Edible Herbs Whose Blooms Make Hoverflies Happy

In this short, Dan and Glenn cover three more plants that are both edible to people and attractive to hoverflies. Cilantro is especially beloved by hoverflies when in bloom, and is a fantastic culinary herb in the kitchen.

Thyme is another aromatic classic that pairs beautifully with meats, fish, grilled veggies and more, and also attracts tons of pollinators, including the hoverfly. Finally, knotting onion is a native perennial in the allium family whose entire body, from flower to bulbs, are edible. They burst with flowers in the summer and can be used just like a standard supermaret onion, chive, or leek.
