  1. Good to see yall..Been worried about you guys n the hurricane Helene that hit..Just so good to see your face❤Good job Ben❤❤❤❤

  2. People ask why we stay home instead of running here and there. As children when we married and literally had no pot to pee in and no window to throw it out for the first 10 years of our married life. We both got stable jobs and bought our first house. From that time I chose to not over spend and appreciated the fact I have a home to go to every night. Not sure why I shared this but in response to you not building another house.😊😊😊

  3. I absolutely LOVE that you are, as you say, reigning in your homestead. It's so easy to over extend yourself. Downsizing is wonderful and allows for a much more peaceful life. I loved having specialty chickens even if the eggs are tiny. Of course you need "pet chickens"!!! You can have a she-shed permanent coop that's cute too! You could have a chicken tractor for them too! Such fun!

  4. That is the sweetest thing I've seen in long time!! As a mom of sons myself, it was so special to me when they started to look outside of their own needs and wants to see others' needs and wants. So awesome!! ❤❤❤

  5. Good job Ben! Love it! Thanks for sharing your plans – I like the plan although not sure about pet chickens…lol. I would also suggest more in ground garden space be left to accommodate your okra,, squash, the shelling peas, etc. and maybe some corn and such. Personally, I would have the asparagus in ground rather than in raised beds. Better to have too much in ground garden space than not enough I figure. Good video!

  6. @rootsandrefugefarm I was thinking as I watched this, I haven’t seen Will in a while. Is Will still working with you?

  7. Love your enthusiasm for embracing this season of your life, love it!!✨🫶🏼✨and love how your kitchen just LITUP!! Wow what a comforting change, it’s beautiful! The fire pit was soo endearing, SOO🥰

  8. Hey Jess and Miah, you seem so happy and much relaxed since your downsizing and reorganizing. God Bless🙏❤️

  9. Oh my isn't youre son just the cutiest! He's so intelligent not just thinking of it but actually knowing how to put it together so it actually contains the fire. Well done Ben x

  10. Wow now that I’ve seen those big plants in front of your house I’m going to do that along the side of my house. Boy you inspire me . Hope you don’t mind me copying lol😅. Love your videos I’ve been watching for years. Love you 😊

  11. I have neighbors who have horses and one is a total ham! He rolls around on the ground then looks around to see if anyone is watching him. 😂😂 Animals make life so much better! Your plans sound really good. Can wait to see the progress.

  12. You should consider a run on each side of your new coop. Then run the chickens on one side & plant the other for them and alternate sides. It also gives a better visual balance.

  13. 🙋🏼‍♀️🕊 Do you think you might try some chick peas ?? We always. Have to stop and gather, what we can handle.. blessings 💞🕊💞🕊

  14. The fire pit is such a gift of love and his face was captivating to watch with delight beaming from his eyes.

Just an observation: You have proven that you can grow massive amounts of food. The infrastructure is in place for you to ramp up production quickly should you need to do so. Down sizing makes perfect sense. Wisdom leads. ♥

  15. You should look into Polish chickens. They're on my list for pet chickens. They have crazy bouffant hairstyle feathers on their heads. I need to set up a new coop area for them, as I suspect my current chickens (standard egg layers) would bully them. My husband is also resigned to his fate of building chicken play houses 🙂

I've missed your chicken content. You sent me on the rabbit hole of having a colourful egg basket. I'm still building my flock but I have some green and blue egg layers that should be starting to lay in about a month now.

  16. Ben’s smile 🥹 He is so proud of himself, as he should be. What a sweet boy. You guys are wonderful parents and it shows through your children.

  17. I LOVED this video. I know there are people that love the sit down thought provoking conversation, but I prefer this . . . A working video, showing me your plans. And most of all, you and Miah showing your plans. Please do more like this! Like the old days.

  18. I love you guys. I see the men big and small desire to love you well Ms Jess. – instead of the oh so popular eye rolls of doing jobs for wives (you guys do joke and its fun) they want to make your heart smile. Its lovely.

  19. Real loving family😊 it is my dream. You have it cherish it. I don't maybe next life. Watching you with joy. Ben needs 🫂Bear needs🥩🐕 Jess and Miah needs🍓🍒🥑🍅🥂🍾💐💐💐 and they lived happily after.🎉🎉🎉

  20. Way to go Ben! Great job!! Jess & Miah, there’s the fruitage of parents that treat each other with love and respect and do things for each other. “Great job!!” to you guys, too!
Thanks for sharing your plans for getting pet chickens. I’m happy that Jess will be able to toss garden scraps over the fence to the chickens again! I’m looking forward to seeing the rest of the plans for that area come to fruition. What fun!

  21. What a sweet young man to want his mama to be happy. He is going to be a wonderful partner to someone thinking of their wants and needs. Great job Mom and Dad!
Do you keep bees? Might be a good addition to your orchard and garden.

  22. I’m sure Miah already knows this you are so smart and a very together lady, you two work so well together
Very enjoyable to watch, listen and learn from her in so many ways.
