  1. Love your garden! Itโ€™s creating such an intimate and beautiful space! I would love to hear your husband more. He needs a mic ๐Ÿ˜Š

  2. No boxwoods!!! So many YouTubers all go to the boxwoods. I know Laura is a big I fluence on you all but she has a lot of room to do that. Oh well, just a thought. Your back yard will look cluttered too. ๐Ÿ˜Š

  3. I love how you two giggle together. That is special for the viewer. Sooo look forward to seeing you and Kate design this space – she has SUCH great ideas!!! Quite right on the saying – First year sleep, second year creep and third year leap. Well well done and loads and loads of love.

  4. I love all the colors! Your maples on your deck are beautiful! Everything looks so cheery and Fall like. ๐Ÿ™‚๐Ÿ๐Ÿ‚

  5. Hi Claudia, I once planted tulips in containers on my deck to over winter. Deck is 12 feet off the ground. The squirrels found them. How???? Anyhow, now I put the containers under the deck with chicken wire over them for the winter. Last year they grew!!!!

  6. Your garden is beautiful I love all the fall color. Have you watched any Garden Answer videos? The are in Ontario Oregon and Laura has tried a variety of boxwoods.

  7. Check into better box woods, they were to develop not to have blight. Google it. If you enclose the garden with box woods leave opening on each side like door ways to get in and out.

  8. I just found your channel recently and so glad I did! We are also zone 8b Oregon and I find I have many of the same plants as you so I love getting ideas from you!!

  9. Love that youโ€™ve had to create an extension to your holding area. You can never have too many plants ๐Ÿ˜Š
Iโ€™m with you on the boxwoods, they would create a lovely formality and distinction between the areas but your grass will be affected and itโ€™ll make doing things in the garden that much more difficult and time consuming, you said at one point that you felt your borders were becoming too congested and difficult and I canโ€™t help but think that they would become more of a hindrance to you enjoying working in the garden. Before you decide; would it be worthwhile purchasing the short fencing pieces (the same kind of thing as Kate has got along the front of her front garden, nearest the sidewalk) these will have very little impact on your lovely grass but will create a physical barrier the same as boxwoods would between your areas which might help you to decide on aesthetics vs practicality vs lifestyle along that edge over a couple of months of being forced to go around them, note at one point you said you didnโ€™t want to have to step over and then you said you would just step over โ˜บ๏ธ can you get boxwoods that small and still create a hedge that you can easily navigate over the height and width of them? Maybe the variety Laura used to have just outside her kitchen door would be goodโ€ฆ ๐Ÿค” ๐Ÿคท๐Ÿปโ€โ™€๏ธ
As far as creating winter interest in that area, what about creating cutouts leading from each side of the rose arbor about 1/3rd or 1/2 way along each the grass edges that you plant evergreen shrubs like boxwood balls or hebe (I love the expanse of colour and varieties that hebeโ€™s provide as well as being pollinator friendly and almost maintenance free) to give you the structure and formality of an English garden look whilst still allowing you room to navigate your garden areas comfortably and give a bit of added weight and purpose to the rose arbor.

Alsoโ€ฆ.. How is your garden looking so colourful and perfect still, itโ€™s fantastic! You and sergey are crafting and creating a wonderful garden. Mine in the UK has been put to bed for the winter for a couple of weeks now all bar a few bulbs Iโ€™ve still left to plant.
P.s. Sorry for the longggggg comments ๐Ÿซฃ

  10. I love that you kept the blooper in the start of the videoโ€ฆ๐Ÿ˜‚ I planted a coral bark maple this year. It was intended on going where a small birch was but I dug it in somewhere temporarily and now itโ€™s there to stay.
Anyways I wanted to say I like the idea of the boxwoods but maybe keep them more separated and shaped into balls instead of a solid hedge. That way it still gives you separation but you can still walk thru easily. Also they have bred new box that is blight resistant. One that we carry is called New Generation series and there are 3 kinds. Boxwood blight did hit us years ago but the worst culprit was a variety called suffruiticosa ( commonly known as dwarf boxwood) but the trade basically stopped growing it.

  11. Really enjoyed seeing your backyard Fall garden. Please ask your photographer/husband to speak up a bit louder for these videos so we can hear his comments, too. Also, would love to see a flower growing completion between Claudia and Sergey. From your description itโ€™s possible the birds that come to your yard to feast on berries and figs are Starlings. Would really like to see your process of pruning conifers for size control.

  12. The birds you're describing sound like starlings. Super invasive, but they're everywhere. Thank you for sharing your garden! ๐Ÿ™‚

  13. Claudia, I love your garden, and the fact that you have a gardening partner! Look into Better Boxwoods. Iโ€™ve heard they are blight resistant. Not sure about the details on them, but I know they are new. Thank you again for sharing your lovely garden!

  14. Hi Claudia I love your garden pretty and healthy, tips how to get rid of tree suckers, and is the maple tree creat suckers? Love maple but scared of suckers pls. Share tips pls and thank you from Alberta canada

  15. Claudia i think we all feel that way we are our worst critic …….your garden is amazing and it helps me (new gardner) to be inspired…thank you

  16. Love all the maple trees in your garden. In my area Dahlias get too much mildew. Wish we had the rain that Oregon gets. Love your channel. Cheers from the central coast of California

  17. Fun video, looking at your garden and plans. You have tons of structure.! Gorgeous! Keep up all your hard work! โค

  18. I especially love your garden because of all your gorgeous trees! I have a very small lot and have plated many japanese maples too for their beautiful structure and colors! I totally agree with you about how people ruin their trees and shrubs by shaping them all into these little balls ๐Ÿ™„ I won't let anyone touch my Japanese maples but me ๐Ÿ˜‚. I think the boxwood idea is a good one. Is they a way you could possibly create another access point from the side to get your wheelbarrow through for needed maintenance? I am looking forward to the side yard project! ๐Ÿ‚๐Ÿ
