Backyard Garden

Backyard Garden Tour | 5 Raised Beds!

Today I’m taking you on a tour of our backyard garden! Everything has been in the ground for a month or so now and lots of the plants are thriving. We used our old untreated deck wood to make THREE new raised beds this year! Kudos to Dylan for doing all of the hard work 😉

  1. The garden looks wonderful ! It's a great idea to get two of the same fruit tree to pollination. For the tomatoes you can prune the suckers and the bottom leaves to have healthier plants and so that their fruit get sweeter. For the cauliflower leaves they make great greens powder 🙂

  2. Nothing garden related (i love your yard!!!) but what about Mayas DNA analysis? Still very interested what mix of breeds she is😁

  3. Charles Dowding is an amazing youtuber to look up if you want to learn a lot about home gardens. Yours looks amazing btw!

  4. I like to keep growing what does best and try new things where I maybe failed prior years. I'm in northern central ca so it get hot! And some things love it.. some things not so much

  5. I've practiced companion planting to reduce pest and to help my veggies, herbs, fruit trees grow well. Tomatoes and basil grow well together like a good married couple. Chives or green onions with any citrus trees. I use Sluggo. It's better for the ground and turns into dirt eventually. It's safe for pets. My problem is always slugs and snails. Don't like. I don't use harsh chemicals in and around my home. Better for the environment. Thank you for sharing your backyard. I always like seeing other peoples home garden as well as their kitchen. The heart of any home, IMO.

  6. I just grew some beets, cucumber and bok choy..they are growing but not actual vegetables yet..the leaves are sprouting so that was exciting to see..i have then in a small cardboard box so I think when it gets bigger I'll get a bigger pot

  7. Pull all the blueberries off the little bush in the middle…when you have a little bush that seems to be taking longer than normal it's trying to product fruit before it grows…so pick off all the blueberries (literally all the berries)…and it will toss it back into the "growing" stage and it will start to get bushier…Sometimes bushes try and skip the growth stage and go right to harvest when in fact it needs to grow first.

  8. Hey there, dill is an annual so only lasts 1 season as well as basil. Basil does not enjoy super hot direct sun. It can get tuff

  9. Careful growing spicy peppers near each other. They cross pollinate very easily and often transfer flavors & spice easily.

  10. Hello Caitlin, I have been a fan of yours since I am vegan too. I am interested in gardening but I fear mice and rats. I know this is unpleasant but has this been an issue for you or others who would like to comment. I do not want to kill so therefore, I am concerned this may be an issue.

  11. Nice doggy 🐕 I like how you keep the dog out if the garden good idea 💡 the mess is not in the way what part of the us you live in I'm in southern California it's always so very dry.
