Self Sufficient Me is based on our small 3-acre property/homestead in SE Queensland Australia about 45kms north of Brisbane – the climate is subtropical (similar to Florida). I started Self Sufficient Me in 2011 as a blog website project where I document and write about backyard food growing, self-sufficiency, and urban farming in general. I love sharing my foodie and DIY adventures online so come along with me and let’s get into it! Cheers, Mark 🙂

  19. Hiya Mark…..I sold something on facebook the other day and while the lady was here picking up her item, we got talking about gardens….see I am a gardening newbie.
I was sharing how I am learning how to do what and when in the garden and at times get quite discouraged because I don't know what I should be planting when etc etc
This lady went on to say….you should follow Mark on Self Sufficient Me….as he is awesome in explaining stuff…….I with a big smile said, I am already subscribed to his channel.
Thank you for sharing your knowledge, I still get overwhelmed in trying to learn and be self sufficient, I am yet to have any success!

  20. It's great to see what you've got planted ☺️ I've just started some beetroot, ginger, tumeric, basil, capsicum, squash, and zucchini 🤞😃 I hope they all grow!

  23. Mark could you please show people the Vitalis variety of beans. They are amazing to grow. They grow about 20 cm long are flat and stringless. You get 1 kg per plant and in these hard times that's a bonus
They are bullet proof to grow.
