Self Sufficient Me is based on our small 3-acre property/homestead in SE Queensland Australia about 45kms north of Brisbane – the climate is subtropical (similar to Florida). I started Self Sufficient Me in 2011 as a blog website project where I document and write about backyard food growing, self-sufficiency, and urban farming in general. I love sharing my foodie and DIY adventures online so come along with me and let’s get into it! Cheers, Mark 🙂

Mark what happened to the Strawberry Spinach you were going to grow in your March video garden plans? I was hoping to hear how it was and how the berries tasted.

Please suggest me a place where I can do farming as a hobby.
At present I live in York PA but want to be in a stable climate
The papaya trees can be lopped. Cover the cut with a large tin, and new growth will follow. No need to destroy them.

Have you ever considered growing Dandelions as a edible crop? The flowers make great jam, leaves for greens in a salad and the roots have medicinal uses.
Hi there, love your videos! Thank you. I live in Melbourne and I would love to try and grow garlic but I have always failed. Any tips or a video you can direct me to? Thanks so much. Keep up the great videos!
Corn needs to be grown in a square so they can properly get pollinated
Enjoyed your video as usual thanks Mark
I really enjoy seeing your work in the garden, and the tips you share.

Cauliflower can be a bit of a demon to grow as they look good today then come tomorrow the little devil's go and bolt.
Hi. I see you don't use covers , Do you struggle with insects eating your vegetables and mould in the soil?
Hi from the U.K. Mike 👍🏻
Our summer is like your winter, what frost resistant veggies would you recommend for a really cold winter?
Bananas can be cooked green before they are attractive to bats.
Are you still doing that Steve Irwin impression? I find that really sad. You are good enough in and of yourself. Your knowledge and talent is wonderful. Just have the confidence and self love to be yourself
Totally take 10 pumpkins off your hands <3 … if only i was local LOL
Thanks for all your videos mate!
Myself and my partner are hooked, even your terrible dad jokes make us laugh.
We've finally started growing our own and having your tips along the way has really helped.

hi Mark, are you in QLD? i am first time gardener .. what would you recomend for current Brisbane climate? any easy leafy green for first timer?
Hiya Mark…..I sold something on facebook the other day and while the lady was here picking up her item, we got talking about gardens….see I am a gardening newbie.
I was sharing how I am learning how to do what and when in the garden and at times get quite discouraged because I don't know what I should be planting when etc etc
This lady went on to say….you should follow Mark on Self Sufficient Me….as he is awesome in explaining stuff…….I with a big smile said, I am already subscribed to his channel.
Thank you for sharing your knowledge, I still get overwhelmed in trying to learn and be self sufficient, I am yet to have any success!
It's great to see what you've got planted ☺️ I've just started some beetroot, ginger, tumeric, basil, capsicum, squash, and zucchini 🤞😃 I hope they all grow!
I really like your garden.I can see you have done a lot in your garden 💕

Hi Mark, what seeds can I sow in July and August to be ready for spring and summer?
Bananas
Mark could you please show people the Vitalis variety of beans. They are amazing to grow. They grow about 20 cm long are flat and stringless. You get 1 kg per plant and in these hard times that's a bonus
They are bullet proof to grow.
Would love to buy your fresh produce if they ain’t getting eaten
Love it Mark from ex forces keep up the good quality videos
