  1. Followed your link to this updated video, and just wanted to let your recent viewers know I built a border in 2017 with some smaller Belgian pavers using this technique, and after 4 winters with lows around -9 to -17 deg. F, my border still looks just like when I first built it. Every single block is still exactly where I laid it. (Except for a few my fencing contractors busted out to replace a wood fence.)

  2. If you place the bricks down so there are no gaps to fill that to me makes more sense ie one brick is layed down with the widest edge to the grass then the next brick is layed down with the narrowest edge to the grass

  3. Just finished this ! I’m so grateful for this video. I completed it all by little old self. I wish I could share a picture here. I even split a rock for a perfect end on a piece that was short coming up to the end. I felt so empowered from this little project. Next step will be trying a fire pit spot. My husband is worried he will come home one day to a full on moat surrounding the house 🤣. Thank you for this!

  4. Can I use this same technique using Granite Cobble Stone??? Do they need to be set into the ground ??? ……

  5. Will this hold up with freezing temperatures in the winter (upstate New York)? Seems like the concrete wouldn't be thick enough to withstand freeze/thaw cycles.

  6. I love the video. I'm going on vacation in about a month and I'm hoping to do this to the front of my yard. I'm a little concerned about which stones to use. You have a brick home and a nice home too I might add. We have light blue vinyl siding. I sure would like to find some Landscaping software where you can add different color stones and see what it's going to look like in the front of your house before you buy the materials. They have some nice Landscaping software out there but they want to charge you annually for using it. I'm not in the landscaping business. I'm only in the business of my own home.

  7. THANKYOU SO MUCH FOR THE GREAT INSTRUCTIONS. THAT IS A WONDERFUL BOARDER. I WILL USE YOUR INSTRUCTION TO MAKE THIS GARDEN BOARDER. HAVE A NICE DAY!!!🥰👍👍👍.

  8. Can this be done on top of sod instead of digging out the sod first? I'd like to create new flower beds by doing the edging and then basically killing the grass inside the bed. After the grass is dead use a small tiller to mix up the dead grass and add top soil?

  9. This looks really professional. Would I be able to stack the blocks for a higher wall using this method? Does that affect how much concrete and mulch I will need due to having a higher wall?

  10. I am in the process of putting in a border around my brick patio. There is a slope concrete away from the patio holding the bricks in. Because of this I can’t put in the plastic border first. Would this work skipping that step?

  11. Hi Tim, going to try this system on a small area around my gas meter and will send you a before picture and hope you can give me any tips before I start and hope to send you a successful after picture. Love your photography skills! Peter

  12. Be careful. I found this video looking for ways to waterproof my foundation because I installed a Border around my flowerbed, my foundation cracked and the warranty company blamed my flowerbed for it. Now I'm screwed looking for ways to drain my flowerbed so my foundation doesn't get any worse.

  13. I have the edging. Lowe's stones will arrive tomorrow. My only concern is how the edging will hold up to a weed eater when cutting grass. Can't wait to see the result. Also didn't see anything in the way of leveling here.

  14. I love how simple this is and how you got straight to the point an broke it down step by step!! No long drawn out talking just straight to business awesome video and work 👍👏🏽

  15. My partner and I are “in the market” to purchase a new house. And thankfully, my partner is super handy. We’re brainstorming ideas for our zen garden dream without “breaking the bank”. I think a No Dig DIY would be great to separate our flowers in the front lawn.

Thank you for your informative insight. ☺️

  16. I just did an approximately 8 ft section on the left side of my house according to this video. Towards the end of the Curve it is slightly sloped and I can see it from across the street. I have absolutely no experience with this. In hindsight, I probably should have brought the level out during the process of staking the edging to the ground. That's what I will do at the front of the house. I wish I would have known about this earlier. Once the concrete mix has been laid out then it's too late to get any dirt underneath unless you wait until it's hardens and then knock it all out and start from scratch in those areas where it is sloped.

  17. Would love to do this but we are not on level land. Not a huge slope, but a constant upgrade. I'm trying to figure how to do this (if possible) keeping the bricks level and not following the slope. Any suggestions?

  18. This likely only works if you don’t have a basement or crawl space under the house. You haven’t given the water anywhere to go but into the basement.

  19. Thanks for the update. Do you have a video showing how to make this if one side of your border is lower than the rest of the area, ie, how to transition the grade change. Thanks

  20. Incredible tutorial! Quick question- how easy is it to edge around the border?I was going to try for flat mow strips, but this looks so much better. Thanks!

  21. The only thing I would hate about this is that this is very much a permanent edge. If I want to change this later I won't be able to

  22. What if in the future you want to change the border is it easy to disassemble and re-create a new order?

  23. What if I want it 1 more layer of the brick to make it higher? Do I need the cement?
