  1. I am a complete novice to gardening I have always had a garden but never really used to bother with it usually leaving to others. I used to see gardening as a chore and a bit boring and old fashioned I think gardening has fallen out of fashion with people here in the UK anyway paving their front gardens over to make room for their cars. I have a small patio outside my kitchen window which is south facing and get lots of sunshine. I have put a few containers out there which will make the patio look really colourful come the summer. My front garden is east facing I just don't really what to do with it after about 12 o'clock pm the sun round to the back of the building leaving the front garden in shade. I would like to put some flower container in the front garden but am unsure what to do. Can anyone help me with any advice I live in Edinburgh, Scotland.
