Small Space Container Vegetable Gardening

A small space container vegetable gardening system that I actually like! I teach small space gardening for beginners and have been looking for a vertical garden planter that is easy to grow in. This small space vegetable garden fits the bill perfectly. It’s soil-based, efficient watering, and you can grow 30 plants in the space of 3 normal pots. Elise Pickett of The Urban Harvest will show you just how easy this Greenstalk Garden is to use.

  1. Great Video! I learned so much. I just got my Green Stalk and am brand new to gardening. This may be a dumb questions, but how do I know when I can start planting my seeds? I live in northern NJ.

  2. I’ve looked at a similar system – “Mr. Stacky”- but some folks have commented on them toppling over (obviously a huge mess & bummer if that happened!) Have you found this to be a concern? Thanks! First year container gardening, have planted a few things, live in Venice, FL and just signed up for your monthly container seed club so super excited about learning more about things that will grow well here!

  3. What are those bars looped around the bottom? Supports or handles to move the tower ,… hmmm
    Please explain, thanks 😊

  4. I bought one of these from another company, but it was forever falling over, and could not get enough light to a lot of the plants. I have it away

  5. We did follow your lead by getting the original first and yesterday I ordered the leaf. We live in Knoxville Tennessee and wondered how the leaf is working out? Any suggestions. We also have a greenhouse so we can grow in the winter. During the summer we will grow outside but in winter it will be in the greenhouse. Suggestions?

  6. I got mine two growing seasons ago. I'm in zone 9a in Louisiana. Overwintered peppers and herbs from last year by pulling it into the patio with a sheet during freezes. I love how much I can grow in so little space, however… the watering system does not work at all for me. I have to water each cell when rain doesn't do the job for me. Any ideas why that is happening? Also, have you considered how to manage it between growing seasons? What are your plans to ammend the soil etc?

  7. I bought those plastic stands from the two dollar store. They hold four plants, have a lacy opening in all of them for water to drain down on all the plants. It’s working out well.I can pick it up,move it around which I like for an old lady like me. I have plastic pictures all over the place and the handles are great too! I can hang them on the fences. I just pick them up by the handles, bring it in and cut my lettuce right from the pictures. Of course, I drilled holes in every one of them. It’s my first time doing this, but I’m loving this method so far. All are food grade too……

  8. Tower gardens look wonderful – I would get one for my deck – yet I only get direct sun for about 5 hours …. and they are pricy

  9. Since you did this a year ago, can you do an update video on what grew well and what didn't do well in this planter? I just bought one through your link.
