PETITTI Container Gardening with Tropical Plants

Looking for the perfect plants to place in hot, sunny areas in the garden, deck, porch, patio, or next to the pool? Tropicals plants might just be the solution you’re looking for!. Watch this video with Noelle, Horticulturist, and Education Director with Petitti Garden Centers, to learn more about tropical flowering and foliage plants and how you can be successful with them right here in Northeast Ohio. Some of our favorite tropical plants include Croton, Lantana, Bougainvillea, Elephant Ears (Alocasia), and Mandinia®! Another benefit to growing tropical plants is their versatility! If you follow a few simple instructions, it’s possible to winter them over indoors as houseplants! You can then transition them back outdoors the following season to enjoy their beautiful blooms again. Use products such as Neem Oil or Captain Jacks Dead Bug Brew® to spray the foliage for insects before bringing them indoors. You can also add another layer of protection from houseplant pests by applying a systemic insecticide to the soil of the plant before bringing it indoors.
