  1. Your videos cover a broad swath of self reliance ,really enjoy, keep up the good work.

  2. I like your deer repellent fence idea, very practical, but I would expect to constantly be replacing the tin foil due to heavy thunderstorms and strong winds we get in our area.  I hope to hear more of the fence's success/failure rate.  Rock on brother!

  3. We just gave up trying everything plus just one more thing and built an 9 foot deer fence around the whole garden.

  4. What we use is coyote urine that we get from a hunting supply place like Gander Mountain.  It repels deer, rabbits, and neighbor cats from your property as coyotes are their natural predators.    However, don't use it if you have coyotes in the neighborhood or it will attract them.  I've heard that big cat manure also works, although we haven't tried it.  It's manure from zoo animals, available at some garden centers.

  5. Another option is an electric fence. They can be used for gardens, livestock, and beehives. It is also very easy to set up a solar system for your fencer to give you an "unlimited" power source.

  6. Sootch, coyote urine is the best! Just google, I am not selling so just make sure your buying the real thing.

  7. I don't know If you are aware of it, BUT… Putting Tin Foil around the Base of plant stalks USUALLY keeps bugs off.
In Our experience, but Minnesota ain't the world hahaha

  8. Good video with sound advice. I retain my coffee grounds/filter  and egg shells and keep them stored in a empty coffee container and dump them on my garden plots
over the fall and winter months.

  9. Well, sorry Sootch, but this means that you will now have to go back and remake your '20 uses for foil', eh?        "21 uses for aluminum foil, and counting!"
…and your garden is looking great.
    Jonathan.

  10. Can't wait until I own a house one day to start prepping then Again I'm only 16 but nice video I learn a lot from your videos.

  11. Uhhh I haven't seen it listed… but you could just take a leak around the edges… That's about as "natural' a way to do it..

  12. Can't you shoot deer in the USA? In New Zealand we shoot and eat the deer if i could get them to come into my garden in groups that size I would be very happy.  The rabbits and possums are the problems here.

  13. I'm in the Texas hill country where we trip over deer daily. So many deer, rabbits and other small animals here. I won't trust my garden to anything, but a fence. I use Tpost and a 5 foot fencing. My dogs are next to my garden, so that helps. Save yourself some headaches and erect a cheap Tpost fence. It doesn't take long, and if you don't set the posts deep, you can always change the perimeter.

  14. Nice job with the naturally rotten fertilizer from the woods! Temperate coniferous fertilizer is best! Also from animals! Greetings from Bulgaria! 🙂

  15. A really good compost consits out of 2 barrels. Im definatly not an expert in gardening, but I know there are some important things to do when composting. My advice would be to do a 10 minute internet resarch on composting.

The video was great. really. thanks a lot.

  16. Freaking deer. Either eating your garden or running out in front of your car. My parents had an electric fence around their garden and I think it worked pretty well.

  17. Take some manure from the chicken pen/house sift that up to get finer particles, and sprinkle that in the composter, and in the garden when you till, that spike in nitrogen gets you growing, its free, and all natural.

  18. Avoid using soil where the pine tree needle leaves fell because it's TOO ACIDIC and that soil is not a good choice for composting.

  19. egg shells? just crush them into small pieces and serve them to your chicken. it brings back some minerals they lost producing egg shells so it keeps it strong.

  20. That natural compost soil is gorgeous. We just have sand and clay here in Southern AZ. 🙁

  21. what was the name of the square composter, and did you say you used worms or no worms in it. Thanks for the Video, no idea on how to help with dear except a fruit tree far away from garden may deter dear to different location. Works for us a little.
