This property owner in Nocatee, Florida wanted this backyard oasis to be built shortly after the construction of their new home. After their children had grown and moved away these homeowners were downsizing from their former farm-like lifestyle on a larger lot but wanted to incorporate many of the natural elements in their former landscape and live the Aquascape Lifestyle. The lot started as a blank slate of sod.
Design focal points include the Aquascape pondless waterfall with stream, paver patio, circular fire pit, pergola, and jacuzzi. The basin is made up of twenty Aquabloxs and plumbed to allow pooling of six inches of water without a negative edge or spillway maintained via an autofill system. Overflows are managed via a two-inch gravity-fed drain line.
Precise grading was required to allow for the desired waterfall height while at the same time allowing for varied elevations and level grade for the fire pit, jacuzzi, and extended patio all meeting up with the foundation of the house. Phase one of the project involved getting the grading right, waterfall and stream rock work, plumbing, and basin installation. Then in phase two, the custom hardscaping was installed with curved lines up to the water feature edge followed by cleaning the water feature of concrete dust and edge work. A rock bridge centered up and visible through the house provides a walk over the stream to the circular fire pit. Landscaping with pollinator attractors draws birds and butterflies in from the adjacent woodland area. Large specimen palms provide a focal point and illumination with landscape accent lighting further adds to the resort feel of this magnificent Living the Aquascape Lifestyle resort experience.
