  1. What a great idea! I'll have to try planting some ginger!
    As Alice said:
"…if I don't make haste, I shall have to go back through the looking-glass…back into the old room-and there'd be an end of all my adventures!"
Sending my 'curiouser & curiouser' happy thoughts through the looking-glass.

  2. Hi Phil is Los Angeles a good area to grow ginger? its mostly dry here 9 monthes of the year temp is in the 70 to 90's F. lat is 34 degrees north similar to Sydney but only south.

  3. It taste delicious if you mix it in your veggie juices or on your smoothies with apples and pears.
It gives them a punch . Awakes your lymphatic system. Very healthy.
Also fruits will keep fresher with ginger, they will not oxidize.

  4. the root of ginger is hard to eat, it is too hot for stomach, while if we instead eat the new leaves of it, maybe more tasty. 🙂 It is a very good antibiotic for us to against all flu and disease too, it is like God design for us in Eden garden, we planting fresh fruit and veggies, and we never need to do other work , also no more money to pay for others. 🙂

  5. Nice video, will go do this right now. Question would be, did you start with one little root in the Spring and harvested all of that on the SAME YEAR?

  6. That it is how life supposed to be and it will be later on. The Word says: man will no longer plant for others to eat or built houses for others to live in. Each one will have healthy and energy to do for himself and be able to give generously like the Almighty does to us all. Blessings,

  7. Thanks for the tips! I live in south Texas so it seems to be like great ginger growing weather!

  8. Lord, why can't i find a smart, good looking man like this, and one that knows how to grow his food?

  9. Good stuff Phil, Love it….Been doing some urban organic gardening here in South Florida and will deffinetly add ginger 🙂

  10. I have lots of ginger growing in my yard, I've tasted it and it doesn't taste anything like what I buy in the store, is there any type of inedible ginger?

  11. It's really nice to have an enough supply of vegetables and other edible foods in your home like ginger that are useful in cooking dishes. Sharing your tips on how to grow them are quite important and beneficial. Good job!

  12. Hey Phil and everyone
I'm growing ginger inside over the winter… and recently I have noticed a cat piss smell from the soil.. I have a little cat and I think he has chosen my gingers to pee on instead of going out in the snow

Is it possible to ''save'' the gingers…?

I'm thinking about taking them up and cleanse them with water and change the soil?

Any advice on this cat pee ginger problem? 😉

  13. Simmer a lot of roots for most of two days on very low heat.  Put the resulting water in ice cube trays.  Use one in your pot of tea, coffee, soups and stews.  Makes you feel warm.

  14. I used to know that ginger's grow more productively in soil but as I have watched this video, I learned that ginger can also grow as productive as it is in a container. You really did a great job in presenting this valuable information. I am very much thankful for making us learned through your kindness.

  15. I live in Brisbane and I have found ginger to be an incredibly slow growing plant. I rent my house, so perhaps it's a matter of soil quality however that is improving. I planted most of my ginger in the summer. The ginger I planted in the spring didn't grow at all until summer anyway. What should I expect from my ginger now? Should I wait a little longer to harvest it? Perhaps the end of March or early April?

  16. Thanks for that. One question, instead of planting the whole ginger, can U cut it up into pieces and still plant or does it have to be whole when planted.

  17. Thanks Phil, am looking forward to more of your fabulous segments. This info on ginger is gold and the freezer tip also a great idea. Am gonna grow my own now and thanks for the tips!!
