What a BEAUTY! Planting Pearl Glam in My Backyard | Gardening with Creekside

It was love at first sight when I saw my first beautyberry, and today is the day when I am finally planting Pearl Glam in my backyard! This fantastic, low-maintenance shrub is a show-stopper for three seasons out of the year and brings height and structure to the garden.

  1. The beautyberry grows wild here. We are blessed to have a couple in our garden beds. They are super easy and just give so much color to the landscape.

  2. Did you tie up the Purple Fountain Grass with twine and use it for fall decoration as some do with corn stalks? I love the Pearl Glam Beautyberry but alas, it's too cold where I live to plant it in my landscape. Zone 5 envy yet again!!

  3. Do you all deal with black widows hiding under/around your grasses or lilies or in the flower bed next to the creek? I have black widows taking hold in my backyard garden under iris foliage and daylily foliage. I need advice please. 😱

  4. Thanks for sharing … and yes the struggle …. that we endure is very real …. but hay I always can use the exercise ….. Hugs

  5. Wow!!! At 18 mins into the vid, you are using a bad@$$ tool that I need! What is that? I have torn up my body trying to dig through rock hard clay and roots. I love your music too. xo (7b W. TN)

  6. I planted some pearl glams here in North Carolina and it almost looks like the afternoon sun destroyed them as they grew from the ground up. I thought they were going to be able to withstand it, but they didn't. Also, I noticed a lot of spider mites are attracted to it.

  7. Jenny… are there ANY agave for zone 6B, southern Kentucky?? Right down the road my neighbor (different zip code) is zone 7A

  8. Jenny, I had a Pretty Berry Bush and the birds dropped the seeds everywhere and I had this coming up on in my gardens. Also, the roots on this bush spread just like the crepe myrtle trees and I had these coming up everywhere. Do you think you will have this same problem? I finally got rid of mine.

  9. Your beds are looking fantastic Jenny. Love the pearlglams. I think I need them. Lol. Missed seeing your sidekick!! 😊

  10. I planted a PW Beauty Berry. It had the little white flowers, but, no berries! Does it need something? I’m in zone 7a in Central Oklahoma. We had heat and drought this year, but I kept it watered. It has some protection from afternoon sun in the form of a wood privacy fence.

  11. I love winterberry plants. I have one. and it is a small space so I have to prune it a lot in the spring and it always comes back beautiful.

  12. I added pw string theory amsonia for fall color. It hasn’t performed well so far. I am also in zone 7 in GA. Have your trialed it yet? I saw it in the gardens at Biltmore years ago and always wanted to try it.

  13. Thanks for the tip to dealing with my suckering lilac… I want to keep the main bush but it is going places I don’t want it to. 🙄 I just didn’t want to kill the ‘main’ plant. 😊🙌

  14. I have the exact issue here in Raleigh with crape Myrtle shoots coming up where I removed the plant – what herbicide did you use to paint on the cut stems? Thank you!

  15. Good morning, Jenny ☕️ I’m back from vacat and catching up on your videos. That Americana Agave, would that survive up here in Boston, zone 6 and, if so, where can I get my hands on one? I saw your mom’s and I need one! Or 2 😄. Have a Blessed Day 😊
