5 Gardening Tips to Launch Into Spring | Zone 5 Gardening | Guten Yardening

We are in the middle of March, here in zone 5 Wisconsin, and the weather is finally warming up enough for us to get a little garden tour started outside.

While there isn’t much in our outdoor garden, there is so much potential out there, and just being able to get outside is so exciting.

In this video, we provide you with a list of 5 things that you are important to remember as we head into our spring growing season.

There are plenty of vegetables to start now and even some instances where you can already have seeds outdoors in our zone, and so we hope this video encourages you to think outside the box a little bit, and remember the importance of preparation, so you are ready to garden outside as soon as possible.

Thanks for watching.

  1. Always love your enthusiasm! The sign of a true gardener—looking at March blech and seeing all the potential! 🙂
Wanted to let you know , I had my first potato harvest from a grow bag I planted Nov 23. It was sooooo disappointing…..and yet, I'm left wondering how to improve. I used a standard LED light—not a grow light, so I am wondering if that was the problem. 5 potatoes. Two were the size of marbles….and 3 were not very big, but better. I still have 5 bags to go, as I planted them 10 days apart. I had such high hopes for this indoor experiment. Perhaps the other bags will be better.
Looking forward to an update on your indoor potato crops, including the cuttings.

  2. Spring is in the air up here in Zone 3 Canada! We still have quite a bit of snow to melt and anxious to get outside and get the garden ready. Thanks for the tips and the tour!

  3. Your mulched raised garden beds remind me of the old Victory Garden tv series. Nice aerial shots too, drone footage?

  4. I can’t wait to get planting outdoors. I don’t enjoy indoor gardening. Thank you for the gardening inspiration. I have lots of outdoor clean up…ugh, winter.🤦🏽‍♀️

  5. Your space looks so great. It is so hard to be patient with these crazy weather swings. We were 19 Celsius today. But next week we are back cold and below 0 at night 🙁

  6. I’ve got my fingers crossed that we have just gotten passed the last freeze here in Ohio. My plum tree is just about to bloom

  7. Snow flurries lat week, mid April, here in Iowa. Maybe last frost soon. Looking forward to playing in the dirt!

  8. Great setup you have there! I’m in WINsconsin also! Just subscribed to your channel. I’d rather watch garden videos than tv so I’ll be binging yours! I have 3 1/2 acres & already started lots of seeds! Happy gardening neighbor!😊🌱

  9. Love the channel, I just found it recently. I was immediately drawn because I wear a similar hat when I work outside
