Edible Gardening

UD builds edible forest garden on Children's Campus

An edible forest garden is a designed landscape that groups fruit and nut trees, shrubs, vines and other perennial plants together to mimic a low-maintenance natural forest and create a more sustainable food system. UD students, faculty and staff from five colleges and Cooperative Extension installed an edible forest garden at the Children’s Campus where it will be utilized as an outdoor classroom to teach kids how plants and people can work together to increase ecosystem viability.
