  1. Love that you did this video! I planted crimson clover a few days ago in a bed and am waiting for a 13 mix blend to come in the mail.

  2. You forgot to mention that "Winter Rye" is cereal rye, not rye grass. If you have a farm store near you, they usually have cereal rye seed and crimson clover seed

  3. Thank you! We sew cover crops but I'm confused about the clover. If the flowers are great for pollinators but I'm suppose to cut down the flowers I am not sure how to make this happen. If I missed something I'm sorry!

  4. All of that organic material on or in the soil ties up nitrogen until the organic decomposes. You mention nitrogen lovers on the spring after legumes are cut or turned in. That “nitrogen bank is not immediately available. It will need all the nitrogen it produced for decomposition. As it decomposes it will release actual N and thus be available for the desired garden crop. It’s like putting money in the bank for future use. Cover tops are good for soil health if managed properly. Big time farmers also need to learn these concepts for long term sustainability. Good presentation ❤.

  5. Thank you for the informative video. Didn't know when to cut to ground but you made it clear to cut down when they start to bloom.

  6. The subject of cover crops is so confusing to me, but your video was very helpful. Seemed like a good idea but I couldn’t figure out when I’m supposed to plant a cover crop when my garden is always occupied. Thanks for answering that question. I think I’ll stick with building compost for my little garden.

  7. Thank you Brian, your insight and knowledge is awesome. I appreciate you and your videos. Loving the background now…the new house and the thus far garden looks amazing!

  8. Thank you for sharing! Also, I wanted to thank you for sharing on how you grow tomatoes 🍅 I decided to give it a try and I harvested many tomatoes this year : )

  9. Funny this video posted today as I decided to try Winter Field Peas this year as a cover crop! Great tips as always thanks.

  10. No Hairy Vetch lol. Thanks I am fixing 2 more raised beds I may donate 1/2 to ramp up organic matter until spring to boost spring crops .
