You could stop the leeching by lining it with something like parchment paper.

Love grow bags. We used them last year and it was crazy. We grew so much food in them. We recently purchased home and ground was chemically treated. We used grow bags and I own a desert business so I used 5gallon buckets as well.
The indoor garden is looking beautiful. My two day Cheesemaking class was amazing with David Asher. I can hardly wait for the cows and goats to freshen to start making my own cheese. Have an awesome day. 💕

Look for the triangle on the bottom w a number #2 is totally food safe. I think 5s are ok too. Do some research on Mr Googlepants.

Those metal pans—I get something similar at Walmart in the pet supply department. I think they're sold as dog food dishes. I use them under flower pots. I like to have the "saucer" bigger than the ones that come with the pots.
Does the cinnamon work?
Nice to see a cute couple still having fun together in their late 80's, but need to edit a bit more and talk about what exactly they are planting, what they were using for the nutrient amendments and I'm still unclear about what grow system they are trying to sell. W

If you used potting mix rather than soil, and a larger water tray, you would be able to miss watering for a few days and everything would be fine. The potting mix would wix water up to the plant.
