We are a local lawn and landscaping company based out of Freeburg IL. Family owned/operated and started from the ground up. My brother (Nic) and I (Alex) are doing our best to build a company we will be happy to work in. It has been an adventure and a struggle at times but I wouldn’t trade it for the world! We began our journey on youtube to document our company history and we would be happy to have you along for the ride! We have big dreams and have hardly scratched the surface of where we want to be.

  1. But is it really low maintenance? Just wait till the dirt sets in to the rock and no way to clean it all out

  2. I sell more rock jobs in the summer over spring and fall! I add 25.00 per ton during July and August 😁 If I’m going to work hard in 90-100 degree weather someone is going to pay me very Well.

  3. I would think you would sell your customers on mulch a lot more. Seeing as they will be coming back to you year after year once the mulch fade away. More $$$ for you, right!?!?

  4. From a maintenance perspective, I wish more landscapers pushed rock vs mulch in my area. Soo much easier to clean the clippings out of the beds as long as the rocks are big enough to not get blown around. Thanks for the video. 👍

  5. I personally rather do rock. It looks better and like you said it’s low maintenance plus for future bush trimming clippings blow out better. I do hate lava rock 🤠🤠

  6. Man I hate my rock beds… I am switching to mulch this year. As soon as your landscape fabric fails 10 years from installation you have weeks everywhere and the only way to fix it is to take all the rock out and put in new fabric. Also the mulch actually feeds the soil and keeps it moist, I can just bring in some new mulch and boom, no more weeds.

  7. I'm a new homeowner and I have lava rock but it looks thinned out and now weeds are coming up in certain spots, do I need to have the whole thing redone or just out down more rock in the thin spots

  8. To me this is way too ugly I think you used a rocks two or three sizes bigger than you should hav2. Smaller diameter rock would have accentuate and made yard 2x bigger then this size.

  9. It would have been better looking with bigger river rocks. I only like small areas of the garden with bigger rocks.

  10. Just started your video and already agree 100%! My husband and I are getting rid of all mulched bed's and replacing with river rock, for all the reason's you stated and then some! We had/have Orkin now due to an ant situation and found we also have other critter's, small snake's, wood spider's, rodent's etc all because of the mulch! We'd re-done a 25×25 ft patio with river rock last year and we love it! Everyone else does too and the best part, NO maintainance!!!!!! Thank you. now I have to finish your video 🙂

  11. To bad there was no detail of actually taking mulch out or putting stone in. Not helpful at all. Real disappointed. Had hoped to actually see how to

  12. Here's what i do….
Step 1. Spend 30 min every month torching the weeds w/ flame thrower. Make sure you wet all beds first w/ garden hose. Only need to hold flame over weed for 1-2 sec.
Step 2. Paint the mulch once it fades…(once per year if dye is mixed strong). Avoid getting dye on concrete…keeping concrete wet will prevent overspray stains.
    Thats it…..Done

  13. Ive got a mulched 'Australian natives' garden. Now getting to the stage where it could potentially do with a 'mulch topup'. Way cheaper than rocks! As for comments about weeds, yeah sure, there's weeds sometimes, but I find after rain the soil is soft and pulling them is too easy! For more stubborn weeds, careful use with a sprayer and 'roundup' ends them!!

  14. Next time it would be more helpful if you recorded the work in the side where people are working, and not the other side where you just show a patch of grass.

  15. Love the concept! Great work. ….just wonder if there was another color option for the rock to better co-ordinate with the rock edging?

  16. just wait 2 years, those leaves will fall down, get between the rocks and turn into a mess of dirt. rock is only low maintenance if it's in an area without leaves that can fall ontop.
