  1. To those who are actually doing this, If you make the water reservoir transparent or opaque enough where light can still travel through. You will run into algae more often. This will reduce the gas exchange within your medium and overall affect the quality of your harvest.

  2. Only problem is that PLA for example has little pores and water leaks through it. That is how I got my wardrobe bending due to the water leaking out. Beware people as this may work on some other surface but not wood or plywood.

  3. Guessing the creator doesn't know Avocado's are not true to seed(The seed in your ex. hos avocado will not grow a hos avocado, to get a hos avocado, you have to graft a hos avocado onto the starter).

  4. Have you had plants die when pinned between the inner window and the storm window? There are plants that won’t get enough CO2 in there between watering.

  5. Sadly the filaments are quite expensive. So even little projects get pricey quickly.

  6. You realise PLA is HIGHLY biodegradable… You soak it in salty water for a few days and it will begin dissolving, same stuff biodegradable airsoft BB's are made from. Not a great material for gardening. I am not watching this video because i honestly think this is a stupid use of a 3D printer. Buy yourself some clay if you want to make flower pots…

  7. So be carefull about which plants you put in which medium with standing water etc. There is certain plants eg aroids that really don't like their roots to be wet all the time.
It might also create an anaerobic environment which actually stimulates rootrot.
Plants can handle quite some water as long as there is airation/airflow through the medium.
But then still, with plants it's usually safer to under water rather than to overwater!
With self watering planters look up semi hydro which use substrates like ponz leca or perlite for airation and water holding capabilities, but be mindfull that PH of your substrate is also a crucial variable for your plants.

Be carfull of the plant rabit hole

  8. This needs to be said again, do not use 3D prints with anything food related unless you use food safe filament. Most filaments are not food safe.
