Japanese Garden

Japanese Architecture Design #137 | Zen Garden House | Redondo Beach, California

It’s not everyday you get to see inside a California home with floors made of pebbles and tatami. Welcome to the Zen Garden House in Redondo Beach, California.

This spectacular 3-story home mixes modern architecture esthetics with asian traditional styles to create an atmosphere familiar to modern-day Japan or China. While the style is often considered Japanese, it is also ubiquitous in other asian countries.

Within this home is a zen garden with flowing water that echoes throughout the entire main chamber of home. There is a green wall (living wall) growing up the entire length of the first story. A tatami room for tea or meditation sits perfectly juxtaposed the zen garden. All of these elements come together to make a home that captures the senses.

In this film, we take a musical journey to this one-of-a-kind, Redondo Beach home.

  1. oh soo cool but I wish there was more japanese feeling like sliding doors and using bamboo you know spirit of japan oh I wish for a mansion just like that in saudi arabia wish you luck and thanks .

  2. Is there a place to see pictures of this house ? The video is amazing and so is the work that's been put into it !

  3. Love your videos! Currently designing a home in Arizona. Loving all the inspiration I can find here on YouTube.

  4. Wow! So gorgeous and I literally live 1.5 miles on the same exact street, away from this house! Was very odd, almost knew immediately with the first shot even with it giving very little away to the surroundings, my inner alarm just went haywire and sure enough, Redondo Beach! Also this house is literally a block away from one of the best beaches in the world and like 3 blocks down from the esplanade or The Riviera where there is world class shops, restaurants and the like laid out in very pedestrian friendly environment that is so lacking in most modern American cities. South Redondo Beach truly is a hidden gem but there are not street performers, roller coasters, or steroid-heads bulking up in front of you so probably shouldn't worry about visiting it, is seriously at least 30 minutes to closest freeway with light traffic . Which means you have to usually intentionally decide to come here as opposed to just stumbling upon it grom some random off-ramp exit.
