  1. @1betrman you might want to consider changing out the pressure switch on your well. at my house in the country i have a spring that feeds the water system, and i have a 20/40 psi pressure switch and the soaker hoses work well with it. thx, eric.

  2. @pavelow235 no, we bought the apartment really cheap ( it needed a lot of work ), and our house upstate was going to be burned down by the local fire department for firefighting practice ( it needed a lot of work too ) eric

  3. @TheVbird420 yeah, i had originally just looped the soaker hose over the lip of each container, then i had this " aha " moment. and i had some old garden hose laying around. eric.

  4. @MegaShaytardfan the sprayers ( emitters ) are good, but you have to bring them in before the frost date, soaker hoses leak out water, so they don't freeze and crack. they do wear out after a few years though.

  5. @erochow
ditto: have replaced the whole shooting match over the past 20 years and have still never been satisfied with my water pressure vs my city water pressure. But the trade off is that I have the best tasting water in the world drawn from my well.I certaintly appreciate your reply!
Mant thanks from the Magnolia State!

  6. @1betrman I had the same issue with rain barrel water–not enough pressure to drive water thru a soaker hose.

Eric cool idea. Plants in pots dry out almost instantly. That'll work as long as you never want to move the pots around!

Did you really lose that country property? That's too bad.

  7. I've been wondering on an easier way to water all of my pots. I have probably about 40 and it takes forever. I might have to tweek this idea a little but this would definitely work.

  8. i think it's eerie how your videos correspond w/ the thoughts in my head. I was just thinking about drip irrigation. #spooky

  9. Hey Eric – Great idea. Would it make any sense to bury ot even partially bury the soaker hose? Less evaporation, etc.

  10. hey tim, yes, you can bury the hose, i added this drip irrigation soaker hose after the plants were already well established, and i didn't want to dig up the soil. in my raised bed vegetable garden, i have the soaker hoses buried. we have a few more soaker hose videos on our channel, thanks, eric.

  11. Hi Eric, Thank you for this great how-to video. I have about 20 pots to irrigate (I can't depend on others to water my plants properly when I'm vacation). Could you please tell me the diameter of the soaker hose you are using. There seem to be a 2 or 3 diameters to choose from. I am assuming the regular hoses come in one diameter. What size are the connectors? Thank you.

  12. What is growing in that first pot? I have that everywhere around my house… when I pull it up it looks like a cross between garlic and onions. Is it edible?

  13. Nice job! This was the first video that popped up when I typed in rooftop gardening… I appreciate the dog footage too! : )

  14. I do this exact set up with our little patio garden — especially our tomatoes. The problem I'm running into is that the pressure is really tremendous at the first pot, then heavy on the second. By the 7th pot (the last one), there's almost no drip at all. do you run into the same problem?

  15. 4:40 it was easy to show on video, but if you put the connection inside the pot and it leaks, the leak waters the plant and not the roof. 💝☀🌵
