  1. Thank you for all the tips. I have a nice size backyard and I started growing in the raised off the ground beds and containers, because of the tree roots. I just couldn't win and almost gave up.

  2. Robbie, you're such a trooper! Nothing can stop you! Not screaming Coopers hawks, planes flying over, trucks backing up and tree branches flying in your way! Love the hawks and your great advice too πŸ˜„β€πŸ‘

  3. all my zuchinni and cucumber plants are wilting and dying. no squash borers that I can find. i wrapped the stems in aluminum foil . my tomatoes get plenty of sun and won't turn red. i guess i'm cursed. the composting in place brought rats.

  4. You have inspired me. I’m growing in totes on my deck, just steps outside my bedroom door which over looks a beautiful lake. I put spinners from the Dollar Tree to keep birds and squirrels away! I’ve rigged irrigation on timers to water them. I putz around out there inspecting and tending daily. Going to begin catching the runoff water to use as you have inspired me to do.

  5. Good morning Robbie
Please show us how to drill the holes to drain into buckets to recycle our water. I live in Victorville, hot and dry!!
    Thank you, Esther

  6. Your totes with the solder iron holes in the sides… an inch up…. has been a plant life saver here. That reservoir of water.. has benefitted my veggies on hot Southern California 100 + days. Thanks Robbie and Gary for all you share. BTW: With all your hummingbirds…. is this breeding/nesting season? I have now spotted a couple of very "round belly" hummingbirds? And i feel honored and proud that they are comfortable to be in and around my yard.

  7. I have grow tubs that were animal feed containers; $5 each! On tables created from pallets with legs. My dogs love the shade and the protection from the rain!

  8. Hey Robbie. You have been so helpful. I started trying to compost on the ground. When I started listening to you say just compost inside your totes I got great results. We have rocky land so container gardening works better for me.

  9. Robbie, how many and what kind of vege plants can be grown in a tote? I learned my lesson trying to grow two zucchini in an 18-gal. They took over! Goodbye eggplants, cucumbers and okra! Next year, they get their own 5-gal bucket πŸ₯’πŸ˜Š

  10. I tried your idea this summer and enjoyed it so much. I only did 3 but will add more next year. How do I maintain the compost inside the totes once the squash, zucchini, and cukes have all died down? Do you water daily. Do I leave in same spot?, or do I need to move to specific area in winter. I live in NC.

  11. I’m an absolute beginner where should I start!? It’s July almost august so is it too late to start anything? When can I start? And what? Thanks! I just found your Channel and am loving you!

  12. I planted minature bell peppers in a traditional ground garden, in a raised bed garden, and in totes set up like yours this year. The peppers in the totes are hands down producing the most peppers. The plants are also greener and larger.

  13. I was able to buy 4 regular size totes and 3 smaller ones that were missing their lids for $1 each at a thrift store. I’m hoping my mother and I will have fun trying to have a fall/winter garden in NC.

  14. I thought you only drilled your drainage holds on the side a few inches up from the bottom to be able to catch the runoff and reuse that water… Now I'm confused .. lol .. not the bottom holes? OK OK >>> you just answered my question in the last part of the video .. ! XxOOOO

  15. Great idea. Our problem currently is heavy clay soil holding too much water. So while we are working at building up our soil in our earthbed over the next few years I will be using this tote idea in the other part of our yard.

  16. Thanks Robbie, the info you give out is really great. I've switching over to your gardening. It's so easy and fast too. All my veggies in the totes are doing great but the ones I planted in plastic feed buckets are not doing so well. So next year I'll have my garden switched over to your way. Keep up the great info and remember we're hanging on to every word. THANKS
