Master Gardener Judy Frankel talks about why she decided to use Dirt Locker® terrace gardening beds on her sloped landscaping. She wanted to plant a fruit and vegetable garden on her steep, problem hillside, which was suffering from erosion and inability to sustain any type of plants except ivy.

Judy contemplated building a retaining wall to treat her ailing hillside but realized that it could cost up to $20,000.00. Judy found out about the Dirt Locker® hillside terracing system from her friend Charles at Ivy Organic, https://ivorganics.com

After watching some of the many Dirt Locker® educational videos, Judy decided to purchase a Dirt Locker® system to terrace her steep backyard slope.

Judy recounts some of the reasons why she chose the Dirt Locker® system over building a retaining wall. It is much less expensive, there is no need for permits, You don’t have to hire expensive landscaping crews, it solved all of her erosion problems, and the Dirt Locker® system allows easy access or egress to all of her future edible plants and pollinating flowers.

  1. This video is right on time! I was just thinking about wanting Dirt Lockers on two hills in my yard in Maryland. My neighbor introduced to me and I have been thinking about doing this for 3 months. I would love to plant food in my yard

  2. I’m so happy to see that Judy has significantly increased her growing area while simultaneously controlling hillside erosion issues! Looks GREAT too!!
