Japanese Garden Weekly Work – Episode 3 | Our Japanese Garden Escape

Welcome to another weekly work video at Our Japanese Garden Escape. We are hurrying to complete certain jobs before autumn leaves and winter sets in. This week we move one of our smaller Japanese maples to free up much needed garden space. We carefully shape a large Portuguese laurel and plant a lot of new Japanese azaleas. Finally, we take on the large task of dealing with all our running bamboos that have no root block. We locate all the rhizomes spreading under ground, cut them, remove them and restore the ground. Enjoy, relax and happy gardening!

  1. If you just break the chutes with the shovel, will the pieces on the other end continue to grow?

  2. The drone shots are a really cool addition to the „normal“ video imo!

How old/big was your ginko before planting it?
Did you do anything to protect it from the cold?

Also i have seen that there are camelia varieties which are supposed to be winter hardy fyi if you didnt know yet 🙂
