  1. We in Texas enjoyed the rain last week. Our ponds and lakes were dangerous low and the trees were stressed from the heat. Now the grass is growing again ponds filling up and smiles again.

  2. I watched your videos fro the beginning. You were in CA. I sure enjoy these videos on the farm in Tennessee better. I’m not saying I don’t like the earlier ones, but to me they seemed like a movie. These videos are real, down to earth who you are. Please don’t feel I’m being mean, I’m not. I feel you came full circle and I’m watching the real Kaye. I love it…♥️

  3. I eat one meal a day too. Dinner around 3-4pm. It works and I feel great! If I get hungry, I eat a kosher pickle. The crunch and saltiness is perfect for me..😊

  4. Regarding cherry tomatoes, I like to freeze them in quart bags for future use in recipes. My favorite recipe I call green olive & tomato chicken. Saute boneless skinless chicken, add Italian dressing in the pan, green olives with a bit of the juice, toss in the frozen tomatoes season to taste and cook till tomatoes are soft and serve over fluffy white rice. Yum yum.
Or just put them in the in a pot with some frozen sliced okra and a little water for okra and tomatoes.

  5. God bless you! I would love to meet you and see your property, and what’s growing naturally there. The more eastern we go in TN as the elevation goes upward , the flora changes accordingly. I’m sure going west , it does the same thing. I’m here in the middle, east of Nashville about 50 miles and it’s a beautiful jungle right now. The heat has caused a few early leaves to drop but we still have at least till the end f October before it turns off cool daily. Stay blessed (and awake) Ms. Kay. Love your show

  6. Rooting basil… Pinch bottom leaves off the stem and most of the leaves off the top of the basil leaving 6 or so leaves at the top to catch sunlight. Trim the stem back to no more than 4–5" for roots to grow. Put in a window where it will get morning or south facing sunlight. Watch daily to make sure the bottom of the stem is strong and not turning mushy. If mushy, cut the mushy part off. 95% WILL root. I do this all the time. Pot and grow outside until frost. It will all winter under grow lights or sunny window but it won't be as pungent tasting. Make heavenly basil tea putting a handful or more chopped leaves in a quart jar and pouring water that has been boiled over the leaves. Let steep for 15-20 mins and strain. I add a tsp of honey to my quart jar and its wonderfully good and nutritious. Roots & Refuge did an excellent video on making basil tea: https://youtu.be/5y1lJYqyyaM Thank you for sharing your journey! ❤

  15. I am growing Genovese, lemon and lime basil from seed and then transplanting the plants to planter boxes outside.

  16. You have a lovely place, and you're so right about all of us need to garden, raise hens, preserve food ect.

  17. Love that you have rain, (we have smokey haze from fires nearby, raining some ash 😱 southeast Idaho). And your lunch is so bright & happy 😊

  18. When I need to shop for food, this is how I do it too. I shop local first. If I can't find something, only then do I go to a grocery store. I buy as much as I can from local providers. It supports them and it's always better stuff. Your lunch is exactly the type of thing I would enjoy! Bon Appetit!

  22. Such a nice driveway seeing it in the rain. Such a great haul at the farmers market. Thanks for sharing.

  23. My sis and I are having to play with the decision to place mom in assisted living. We are so dreading this!!!!!

  24. God bless you Kaye! Everytime I watch your videos I feel like I am visiting you at your homestead! I feel like I missed out on lunch tho. Have happy Days Kaye!

  25. Looks so delicious! I posted a video on my Facebook page about growing green beans. I did some research and do you know there were at least 20 million Victory Gardens covering more than approx. 20 million acres of American soil in 1943! 20 million…40% of the nation's produce was supplied by Victory Gardens by 1944. 40%. Wow! I never realized it was that much. We ALL need to grow and be primarily self-sufficient. Please let me know of the name of the market you went to. My sister is in Lebanon and my niece in Mount Juliet. I am sure they would love it!
