Neem Oil on Roses – The Best Option For Organic Gardening

My Neem Oil is well used in the garden to fight soft body insects (unwanted ones) and give protection to rose foliage for future black spot.

  1. I’m zone 6 Ohio. What do you use when it gets hot because the oil burns the leaves? It’s already 80° here.

  2. I'm zone 10a in Florida & I use neem oil at night/dusk so it doesn't burn my leaves. Morning is too risky for my climate. Just got rid of an aphid infestation on my roses a couple weeks ago. I also use it for spider mites on my patio plants. Works great.

  3. Neem oil will still affect the honey bees. I grew a total of 172 different roses in Michigan and gave it up because of the danger posed to honey bees by the use of pesticides. When all is said and done Neem Oil is still considered to be a pesticide unfortunately.
Spraying a strong stream of water is directly on the bugs early in morning works somewhat but not completely. I’m now trying to improve the soil to see if stronger roses may mean stronger resistance to pests.
There is a dilemma here and it is this: Are we willing to endanger the honey bee 🐝 for the pleasure of growing the beautiful rose? 🌹

  4. Timing is everything with Neem oil. Last month, I foolishly sprayed my baby roses for sawfly then left for a weekend trip not realizing the temps would jump up into the high eighties. I came home to burnt little babies. Thankfully I was able to save them with a good rinse and scrub to get the oil off. I was also too heavy-handed in the distribution of spray. They are now putting out new growth. Also Olga, I discovered the Bliss rose is fragrant! I know every nose is different but I read so many reviews about it not being fragrant. So I was over the moon to be able to detect a pretty strong Lemon verbena scent. Can't wait to hear your experience when Bliss blooms in your garden.

  5. Got the CPM, planning as the shrub in zone 4, what's the mature sizes, and where should I plant it, full sun or half sun, thanks ?

  6. I can't buy neem oil in Canada it's banned, do you have other suggested alternatives? Thanks.

It will help me a lot.
Many people in my country are bitter and sad about the war in your
beautiful country. We pray for you. God bless you and your family!

  8. I love the soundtrack of your videos, Olga!! Yesterday I removed all Ivy foliage from my Rose's arch and sprayed neem oil all over. Today It looks stronger and healthier already. I have the same pump sprayer bought from Home Depot and I did exactly as you recommended. I am enjoying your content so much. God bless your beautiful garden : )

  9. Hi Olga, when you mix the solution, do you mean 1 gallon of water instead of a liter in your sprayer? I have a feeling it is a gallon not a liter. Am I right? Thanks.

  10. Hi Olga, do you spray neem oil solution every 2 weeks in summer too? I wanna fight off Japanese beetles and spider mites. Zone 5 Colorado. I will spray while Sun sets.
