Plastic-free gardening is a movement to help cut down on recycling. This guide shows you how to sow seeds without the need for plastic trays. Using a variety of recycled materials you can grow plants without the need for plastic.
Plastics are causing havoc to our environment and gardening is full of different single-use plastic items. All of which goes to landfill. I’m on a mission to show gardeners that you can garden without plastic and am vlogging my own gardening journey!

Some good tips for plastic alternatives and a smart new greenhouse to boot. ๐๐ผ
Never thought of using egg boxes as seed trays. Nice tip
Nice. I should make myself some of those wooden seed trays – they really are old-school workhorses aren't they! I probably should look to where I can get ice-block sticks as I did resort to buying a few packs of plastic labels this year… ๐ One trick I often do for a quick and very eco-friendly plant label is to take a pruned branch from a tree, something around 1cm thick, and use a pocket knife to shave a flat surface on it. With a fairly long, straight twig you can cut several labels, and you only need to shave the area for the actual name, not the whole length. If you need a LOT of labels it gets a bit annoying, but if you ever are lost for a label, it works a treat!
I like it: "You don't need anything that will survive the apocalypse"!
Lovely video, I wish more people would think to make these. Slightly off topic though, the thermometer you are using, what brand is it? I'm looking for one. Many thanks.

Could a metal muffin tin be used to germinate? ๐ค I feel like each muffin slot might be the right size and then you can just wash it out when done and it'll probably last a long time.
Do you think wooden trays would work for growing microgreens? I am thinking of starting micro green farming, but I am discouraged as I can't find any eco 1020 trays – they are all plastic!!
I really enjoyed this great video. I noticed that you didn't give your seeds any bottom heat so is it not necessary to start them off?
Trying to find ideas of where to find seed starter mix without the plastic bags. Hope you find an option for that and let us know!
