More Brush Cutting Aftermath + Weeding + Yard/Garden Plans For The Future

This morning (Saturday, July 15, 2017) it was cooler, so I was able to get into the back part of our property with my 40 volt Ryobi trimmer with Expand-It Brush Cutter attachment to take out more wild rose, barberry, burdock, and other weeds.

My plan with the back area is to cut out the bad stuff, poison it with stump killer, groom the ground in the fall, burn what’s been cut, and make the mature trees more of a focal point. I’m also got to figure out what would be good to plant in these areas – probably just grass seed that’s good for shady areas. I want to area to be more open and inviting.

I also weeded hosta hillside north. Mostly crabgrass, some burdock, and that plant with the blue flower that I mention is “asiatic dayflower” (Commelina communis) – the whole property is riddled with that crap.
