Irish Cottage Renovation Orchard Plans Underway | Altavra Homestead Vlog 12

When I first saw the property, I knew there was plenty of space and I came up with all sorts of plans 💭

The largest part of land (the field) will take some REAL heavy thought (and work!) but two areas I could see straight away were the allotment patch – the
veg growing area – and an enclosed spot that I decided would be great as an orchard.

The idea is to work towards Food Forest / Forest Garden along the Permaculture principles. But there’s a bit of a way to go to get there 👨🏻‍🌾 these are just some of the first steps.

This, and all the upcoming videos, are snaps-shots of what has been going on over the summer, in case the weather doesn’t seem to match ☀️🌨❄️

Plenty more to come… Thanks for watching!

  1. It's good to see you back ☺️. Are you using a brush cutter/whacker on the overgrowth? Here at our place, we have have an ongoing battle with brambles, particularly in the hedges. They are wicked and drive us crazy every season, sooo, it's great that you are digging them out as much as possible. Any sign of work on the cottage, or are you concentrating on the land first and foremost?

  2. Excellent video. SBK weed killer is effective on the brambles and Gallup weed killer kills the ivy 👍John.
