Three SIMPLE Ways to Give Your Garden Curb Appeal | Spring Front Yard Garden Tour | Guten Yardening

The front yard is the perfect place for a beautiful garden. When we lost our Ash tree last year, we knew we needed to transform our front yard into a garden, and so we were able to create seven new garden beds in that space.

Our front yard garden is in full swing, and we have been working to update the space to improve the functionality and garden curb appeal.

In this video we show you three ways we changed the layout of our front garden, and with give you a garden tour, so you can see what we have growing.

Much of what we have done to this space is a good example of gardening 101. Zone 5 gardening in an urban environment with limited space means that we need to do our best to take advantage of very inch of space, and soil erosion, is not something we can let stand in the way.

One of the elements that we have added to this space is the use of terrace board. Typically this comes in brown or black.

A link to the terrace board is here: https://amzn.to/3iPNQKl

  1. Looking good my friend! I especially like the edging you used.
I'm still in the planning stage regarding my front yard but I do need to put it to use since that is where the good sunlight is on my lot. Luckily, a few years ago Florida enacted a law that forbids counties & municipalities from trying to regulate gardens on private property – I call it the "Right to Grow" law. So far, all I have out there is the two Greenstalks.

  2. The front garden is looking fantastic. You are going to have so many seeds. We have a garden that looks much the same lol, except ours is carrots, kale and cabbage. There is something very satisfying about getting seeds from your own plants. Can't wait to see how you do in that space this year!

  3. Looks great! Do you have any problems with rabbits or squirrels? They run rampant in our neighbourhood, so we have to use both a combination of cages/netting and red fox pee to deter them. We don't mind the cages/netting in the back yard, but not sure how it would look esthetically in the front yard if we expand our yarden there. Any tips?

  4. That looks great. I love collecting my own seeds, so satisfying.

My front yard is so tiny, but I did pop in a few pepper plants, and herbs I plan on using in cut flower arrangements.

  5. You can pickle the young tender seed pods of most brassicas in heavy brine to get something very much like capers in taste and texture. Just something else you can eat, assuming you have already planned for saving enough seeds.
