  1. Ive done winter sowing before and was somewhat successful, However you brought up a ton of great points and ideas…Thank you.

  2. Always value your tips and advice when it comes to gardening. In south MS, our need of winter sowing is not as necessary, but I did it for the first time last year after watching one of your videos and had pretty good success.

  3. This will be my third year winter sowing. I enjoy it! Especially because I do it with my granddaughter. It is a great way to get kids involved when you are stuck inside when the weather is really bad here in NNY. It may not always work out with some types of plants, but it does really work! This past winter I desided to use my small portable greenhouse instead of the milk jugs. I set it up on the patio…after I shovel a lot of snow, and used it as a giant milk jug. It got the morning and mid day sun. I planted Cherokee Purple and F-1 Roma Tomatoes, Rosa Bianca Eggplant, and King of the North Peppers. I was shocked it worked! The transplants were a month behind my other ones, but I did get a nice harvest. I did plant Larkspur in two milk jugs and I got some nice plants out of that too. I'm going to go that route again this year to see what I get. Inside the greenhouse I used clear plastic jars…peanut butter, mayo etc. I drilled holes in their bottoms and set them in black plastic hamburger trays. Later when the days were warmer and the seeds germinated, I left the front open and closed it back at night. They self hardened. I did all of this April 1st. I always enjoy your videos! Always very good content! Take care!

  4. You know I have never had success since winter sowing has been a thing. I'm not giving up now. I'm going to make sure I do exactly what you say 😍!!! Great explanation and I look forward to giving it ago "AGAIN" this year. Thanks so much Monica!!!

  6. Any thoughts about using large flower pots with plastic wrap covers vs milk jugs as long as there was enough room for seedlings to grow before bumping up against the wrap?
