Container Gardening

Container Gardening Growing Salad Bowls

Ron Baune built a greenhouse for plant starts that he and his wife Joan began selling at a nearby farmers’ market. When that garden reached eight acres, they decided to hit the big time with a space at the much larger Portland Farmers’ Market.

While their plant starts were a big hit, they realized that city people didn’t have the larger parcels of land that were common in the suburbs. This “aha!” moment led Joan to the realization that potted vegetables would be a great value-added addition to their product mix, and Rainyway Farm Salad Bowls were born.

  1. I really like the idea but even after the two weeks would you not use up all the lettuce just to make one or two salads?  I guess you could have multiple bowls to avoid this.

  2. Great idea. My only problem is the cost, I think anyone can make an equivalent for much less.

  3. Love this, it's pretty and can last the whole summer if you pick and not cut the leaves.
