PETITTI Vegetable Container Garden

When it comes to vegetable gardening, we typically recommend waiting until Memorial Day in Northeast Ohio in order to provide our gardens with more consistent warm weather. Watch this video with Noelle, Horticulturist and Education Director of Petitti Garden Centers, to learn tips and tricks for container gardening with veggies and herbs. One thing you can do to help keep pests away from your veggies and herbs is adding Marigolds to or near your container. They can repel deer and pests as well as attract pests such as whitefly, away from your veggies. Another thing to keep in mind is to not fill your containers too full. Most veggies, especially tomatoes, like their roots to have space in order to grow well.

  1. For planting tomatoes, when you pinch the bottom leaves off, plant the tomato deep, the stock will shoot more roots out for a strong plant.
