I haven’t found a solution for my own row garden that doesn’t require too many inputs. I am hoping that Helen can solve my expensive input (mulch, fertilizer, tractor tillage) issues. Can’t wait to see the edited video. Paul Wheaton’s new Kickstarter features Helen Atthowe and her ecological approach to the Garden Master Course. 1. I went through this and got rid of any thing that was not used or truly love. Now l have space that makes it easier to keep clean and space for my mind to be uncluttered.
Try just two meals a day it is healthier on your digestive system.
Good luck and try to enjoy life

  2. I am in the same boat with you! We are moving again. In with my FIL, my MIL passed last month. Financially, we have to. Our house is not selling for some reason. So I will be taking over as woman of the house. MIL was not a housekeeper, less so then I am. My FIL deserves a comfortable home full of family and with seven people now in a house, it has to run smoothly or we sink. I struggle. ALL. THE. TIME. I like the idea of giving yourself a college education in homemaking. I love Dana! She is amazing for my ADHD brain. The Homemaker's Bible is an excellent book to educate yourself and then your children in the art of homekeeping. You should see if you can get it from the library or purchase it. It is a hefty book and a wealth of knowledge!

  3. Dont be hard on yourself – youre the best already – just overstretched – ya know , this is why farmers , for millenia, have children – to work the dog sh__ out of em – children were invented to multiply yourself , to increase and speed up your efforts to prosper – which benifits you because you'll young enough and not broken down to enjoy your efforts and benifits the children because they will be skilled, knowledgable and good base people – tell em they need to step up their game , and get used to putting out for the family and farm – or get the hell out – its room and board , akin to slavery baby – no one person should have to carry the load , getting all used up for the others – put out or get out – welfare signup is in town

  4. They dont need to waste resources remaking the wheel – improve the existing wheel and produce – make – repair – grow and expand

  5. I've never minded cleaning house. It's just so much more peaceful when clean however……
I find myself outside in the garden or doing animal chores ALL the time.
I need a bit more organization here as well.
I don't have children to help so it seems something is always falling behind as I can't be everywhere at once.
Perhaps I need to focus more on efficiency as well.
As a wife a mother and a homemaker it seems we must always put our own desires aside. Finding joy in whatever you do … real joy in your heart could really make a difference.

  6. You’re amazing. I only have 6 chicken s and dozens of quail to take care of. I’m on vacation (staying home). There’s no better time to declutter than now. Thanks for the motivation to be a better homemaker.

  7. I think the word you were searching for is introspection. I completely understand what you're talking about. I've never enjoyed it either but have been trying to be better as well. I don't think I'll ever enjoy dishes though lol

  8. Proverbs 4 23: keep your heart with all diligence, for out of IT Spring the issues of life.

I found a vintage cotton dress on ebay that I very 1950's housewife style. I love it. I only wear it at home, because it would look so out of place in town, but it's lovely and very durable fabric, with pockets in the skirt even. Button up, high neck, comfy modest, and makes me giggle 😄😁 when I call it my work uniform.

  9. My family isn't homesteading, although that is our goal. We are currently still stuck in the city. I wasn't taught any homemaking skills growing up. And particularly the never ending cleaning is something I struggle with. I enjoy the cooking and baking part of homemaking. I like to be creative, see the final product of something I've made. But the cleaning is truly my Sissyphian boulder. It never ends, and it is a struggle to make myself do without being resentful about it. Especially now that our baby is a toddler and adds significantly to the mess. I've also foud that the key to making it managable is mental. And it's helpful for us to admit to each other that we don't like all of it. Makes you feel less lonely.

  10. My struggle is how to declutter especially in this bad economy. I tend to hoard now worse than ever! You probably have a different pressure b/c you have daughters that you know will someday be homemakers too. Life is a journey for all of us.
