Why did they outlaw red and blackcurrants back in 1911 in the US? Why is it still illegal in multiple states? What are the scientifically-backed benefits of this berry? We will look at the research.

White currents are lovely too I've 2 different varieties of black currents red currents and white currents growing
In Canada we can pick them wild or grow them. I have kidney stones due to Urich acid and any black fruit will help. BTW anyone who suffers from Uric acid stones, you can take a prescription drug called Allopurinol that will prevent them with minimal if any side effects.
The ban was lifted in Oregon because there’s so many native species of Ribes all over the wilderness that it was impossible to enforce. People in my area forage like crazy. But what got the ban lifted was a farmer looking to raise black currants. Here’s a little clip from an article I read: “There are now black currant growers in other states that have lifted the ban—including New York, Oregon, Illinois and Minnesota—who commercially grow the once-forbidden berries. The ban still remains on the books in Massachusetts, Maine, New Hampshire, Virginia and West Virginia. In some places, like Michigan, a permit is required to plant black currants anywhere in the state.”

I'll be damned. I've been suggesting keeping peanuts around to snack on to people trying to quit smoking cigarettes, because it helped me when I quit smoking. I always thought it had more to do with the salt and just being another way to get out that oral fixation, but to hear peanuts possess a chemical that helps break addictions, is pretty awesome.
Apple and blackcurrant pie: delicious !! Blackcurrant jam on scones with clotted cream: superb !!
They're awesome in white rice with some pine nuts.
They were banned under the guise of poisonous reasons, when really, after hearing this, sounds more like these currents wouldn't benefit the big phama to come. So they were sure to give them a bad name… like Marijuana.
Save the potato president…put some of these berries in his ice cream…..he like ice cream. FJB
Japanese knotweed has a super high level of resveratrol….
Hey, how about that, if we just let stuff grow wildly, it’s fine to eat and live on. No need for factories and farms, how about that? Who would of thought.
Everything that is in nature is outlawed by the government to benefit profits for big pharma!
But all the while, the US let in highly invasive plants like certain bamboo that absolutely took over where it was planted.
The US govt turned an international problem into a statewide crisis…this is indicative of people being in positions in govt that have no business being where they are.
.
My great grandmother's current jam would make you a toast addict! Lol
the amount of medical misinformation and addiction fear mongering going on in this video is criminal
it's a standard flavour juice drink here in UK. shops are full of the stuff. we have in pie's, drinks, jelly (jello) yoghurt. beautiful. although I would recommend not giving you toddler a blackcurrant drink before bed as they may wet the bed.
Maybe because it effects blood clotting? That is why they banned it.

What is wrong with this country – outlawing a plant.
Talk about taxonomy.
I would subscribe but as the video did,,, I will make you wait till later to find out. 😊
This right here is misinformation. saying this plant is banned is like talking about banned books…they arent actually banned… stupid af
Deliberately raising your ph of your urine is bad for your health. Kidney stones or liver disease and kidney failure. Hmm.
I would say give some of this to Biden but his cognitive decline is severe so who knows if it would help.
So let's get these mice addicted to meth and then years later meth junkies have still never heard of black currents
I'm just getting over a case of kidney stones. I get them often…….
It's not bad it's only the brainwashed people that doesn't use it because they listen to their government f*** government
Expat in Italy. Currants are all over the supermarkets and in many forms.
There's no money in cures. Plenty of money to make in medicine.
I had a different idea about the term edible 😸
Less addictive… Is that why they have peanuts in bars?
They outlawed it because of the health benefits.
They don't want people to be healthy.
They want people turning sick and get hooked on big pharma.
Sad world.
Wow pretty sure my mom told me not to eat those because they where poisonous and only birds could eat them.
Utica acid is NOT the common cause of kidney stones, instead calcium oxalate is which is much more difficult to control and 90% of kidney stones
Red currents are my favorite. My grandmother grows many variety of currents
I'm growing over 30 shrubs here in Canada for myself and family. Very delicious, grew up eating them. I actually like eating them fresh from the shrub, tho some people find them too sour or tart…. anyone else? 🙂

ANYTHING that is good and healthy for the human body ALWAYS gets banned! Everything that keeps you sick and dependent on big pharma is promoted and pushed on the people!

Yet the pine beetle was left to ruin every pine tree in North America.
Funny…somehow we were suggestively taught all three of those were poisonous as kids growing up in the States.
Banned in many of the United States? 🤣🤣🤣
