Front Yard Garden

Drip Irrigation Install – Landscape Update

In this video I install the drip irrigation in the front yard and tackle several other clean up projects. The landscape is really starting to come together. I will have a separate drip irrigation installation video when it is all complete.

  1. Dang Jim, as a follower from the start of this project I can't believe the transformation. When you first moved in I was like "yeeeww", but wow, your vision and hard work has really paid off. It is absolutely a head turner. Keep up the great work and inspiration to us all.

  2. It takes a drone to see how beautiful you have made your lot. Skycam next?
You have given me the courage to install drip irrigation for the shrubs. Is drip a good way to water my lawn? Or will burying the lines a couple of inches clog them?
    Thanks!

  3. So nice to see the front. It's all looking great. I'm planning to up my quotient of annuals from seed this year. Have never done it but watching you and Laura at Garden Answer has given me the impetus to try. I have no annuals because I won't spend money on something that is going to die after a season.

  4. Looks lovely! Excited to one day see the new picket fence, driveway, front porch, & backyard fence. Can't wait to see the impact the back yard fence will make. Your property is lush & green now – love it. Keep going!

  5. Great to hear that you still have a ton of work to do. That means a lot more of weekly update videos are coming. I love them and enjoyed every single one you put out so far.

  6. Everything looks so lush, can't wait to see it with mulch – that's just the icing on the cake. Looking forward to the next propagation video. I think you have cured Holly of eating grass, I haven't seen her eat any since you laid the new sod. Guess Zoysia isn't as tasty as Fescue.

  7. The place really has transformed and looking great. I love seeing Holly enjoy the grass! Thank you for the education, humor and variety of your channel.

  8. It really is starting to all come together. I’m looking forward to hearing more about the butterfly bush. Is it available now? I’m trying to hone in on my recent drip instal and getting the amounts of water for everything correct. Do you think there is a difference between curving the tubing and using a grid method? I have heard the grid gives better flow and I’m wondering if that’s my issue. Also, do you use the 1/4 that’s spaced 6,9 or 12 inches?

  9. I cant imagine your property looking anymore beautiful than it does now. Jim do you ever wonder if Holly is wondering who you are talking to in your videos? Shes such a joy to see in the garden. Shes your most beautiful flower.😁

  10. Cant wait to see that porch! I want to add drip just to work on the project, but my clay holds so much moisture. I barely have to water… we’ve also been getting a ton of rain over here in 8a Virginia Beach. Hopefully my mulching will eventually make my clay good soil, so I can plant something other than moisture and clay loving plants.

  11. Hi Jim, another great video. I have always thought there’s no point me installing drip irrigation here in England with all our rain, but I’ve been out watering my plants every evening for the past month so maybe there’s some merit in doing this after all. Love your videos, watch every one of them 😁 your garden is looking so colourful and lush now. Wow you have worked so hard in the front. You are an inspiration 😍

  12. It honestly looks like a whole different property already. I’m really impressed with what you’ve done. Enjoying watching the transformation.

  13. Wonderful everything is taking place beautifully!!!
Is a lot of work congrats 🥳 you made a huge difference in this property

  14. With each video your garden looks more beautiful. I look forward to seeing your vision become a reality.

  15. Wow, Jim, your landscape is looking better and better every day! You seem to have an unlimited amount of energy when it comes to home improvement projects! I am amazed at what you've accomplished in a relatively short amount of time. I'm looking forward to the step by step drip irrigation videos. I need to get my property set up on some type of irrigation system, so I don't have to do daily watering. Thanks for these informative videos! ~Margie

  16. Wow! Everything has grown and filled in so beautifully! Thanks for sharing the progress🌲🌿

  17. Everything looks great. There is one recommendation. In the front there is one corner that needs to be rounded more, not so pointed. Lots of progress.

  18. Wow. Your blueberry patch is really coming along. I can't wait to see what cultivars you choose to grow. This year, we chose to try out – in addition to a workhorse, Bluecrop, – the Toro sport Cabarnet Splash due to its gorgeous spring (and fall) color. We will see what happens!

  19. Wow we wont even recognize this place, for those who remember the beginning of your backyard renovation. This is a true transformation! Beautiful

  20. Do you foresee a time in the next few to five years or so, once the plants are established, that you'll be able to wean off the irrigation? Is that something you designed for with the installation and plant choices or do you want to rotate out plants and new ones will need the water?

  21. Thanks for the 50-second speed demo of putting in drip irrigation! I'm getting closer to overcoming my fear of putting one in. (My father tried to do a drip irrigation system in his garden some years ago and lost everything. I don't want to repeat his mistakes.) I'm looking forward to your detailed video of the install.

  22. Are you watering the turf with drip as well? Did you already do a video on how you developed the plan for the space?

  23. Looking amazing. What are the bright red bushes that were just beyond the new plants you mentioned from your unboxing. I saw at least 3 very small fire red bushes that are gorgeous but you didn’t mention them in this video.

  24. Love your channel! What's your drip irrigation watering schedule for shrubs? Frequency? Duration? Thanks!
