Las Vegas, child of the Hoover Dam, was once a once a place to stop and have dinner on your way to somewhere else, but the Rat Pack and countless other entertainers changed that. Then, Steve Wynn came in and literally changed the definiton of resort–Mega Resort.
The Mirage was the first modern hotel and casino in Las Vegas. Built in the late 1980s, it was constructed at a time when tourism to Las Vegas was crashing and the town was still hungover on the Rat Pack days.
Its tropical theme and thousands of rooms ushered in a new generation of hospitality and the Mirage and its volcano forever changed the status quo in Las Vegas. MGM later acquired the property and dealt with the loss of the Siegfried and Roy show, ushering in the “Love” Beatles show by Cirque De Solei. Then they spiraled the property into a Wall Street gamble and the property wound up bunched in a realty trust.
MGM was also the manager of the hotel and decided that they wanted to focus on newer venues. They sold their lease agreement contract to Hard Rock International in 2021 and questions have lingered as to what Hard Rock plans to add to the property, and what they play to take away.

If they get rid of that volcano, I’ll just say I’m glad to have caught it erupting. I really hope they find a way keep it though so that others can see it.

Dude you gotta figure out how to get straight to the point. You didn't have to include the history of Vegas. I just wanted to know about the mirage. I'd watch more of your videos but they just turn into rambling history lessons full of tangents that the average person would have trouble keeping track of

NOBODY wants to see a GIANT guitar shaped building ANYWHERE in Las Vegas, especially the Strip. The "new" casino/hotel is going to be a HUGE failure………..And I say GOOD.

just stayed there 2 weeks ago it was a nice place and very well kept and clean. no complaints.
